Result — $25.00/hour — 40 hours/week — 52 weeks/year
| Line | Amount | Annual |
|---|---|---|
Gross pay per weekWhy this line? The rate multiplied by your hours per week — pure arithmetic, before any tax. Why this rate: Not a rate — a multiplication on the hours you declared. No tax rate is involved anywhere in this tool. What changes it: Your hourly rate and hours per week. | $1,000.00 | $52,000.00 |
Gross pay per month (average)Why this line? The annual figure divided by 12 — an average month, before any tax. Calendar months vary; payroll months follow your pay frequency. Why this rate: Not a rate — the annual figure spread over 12 months. No tax rate is involved anywhere in this tool. What changes it: Your hourly rate, hours per week and weeks per year. | $4,333.33 | $52,000.00 |
Gross pay per yearWhy this line? The rate multiplied by hours per week and weeks per year (40 x 52 = 2,080 hours is the standard full-time year). This is gross pay before tax — the paycheck calculator turns it into take-home pay. Why this rate: Not a rate — a multiplication on the declared convention (hours × weeks). No tax rate is involved anywhere in this tool. What changes it: Unpaid weeks lower it directly: at 50 weeks instead of 52, the same rate pays 2 weeks less. Overtime is not included unless you add it with the overtime calculator. | $52,000.00 | $52,000.00 |

Methodology, limits and sources
Rates verified on 2026-10-26 (primary sources listed per line).
Model, declared: annual = hourly rate × hours per week × weeks per year; weekly = rate × hours; monthly = annual ÷ 12 (an average month). The reverse direction divides by the same declared hours. This tool makes no tax claim of any kind — every figure is gross, and the take-home step belongs to the paycheck calculator. Overtime, when declared, is priced at 1.5× under the weekly model of the overtime calculator and displayed separately from the base conversion.
The convention
The standard full-time year is 40 hours × 52 weeks = 2,080 hours. The converter above runs that arithmetic in both directions, at whatever hours and weeks you declare — the tables below keep the standard cases.

From hourly gross to take-home
Once you have the annual salary, the deductions begin: federal income tax, FICA and state tax. The button under the result takes the converted salary to the paycheck calculator, prefilled — or use the gross to net calculator; both compute the same engine, line by line.
This converter uses straight time for the base conversion. Overtime is shown separately when you declare it, and in full on the overtime calculator.

Frequently asked questions
How many work hours are in a year?
2,080 on the standard convention: 40 hours × 52 weeks. Part-time schedules and unpaid weeks change it directly — 37.5 hours a week is 1,950 hours; 50 paid weeks at 40 hours is 2,000.
Is the converted salary before or after tax?
Before tax, always. A conversion is arithmetic, not a paycheck: federal tax, FICA and state tax are the paycheck calculator's job, and the button under the result takes you there with the salary prefilled.
Does the converter include overtime?
Not in the base figure. If you declare usual overtime hours, the gross for such a week and its effective hourly rate are shown as separate lines — because overtime depends on the hours actually worked each week, annualizing it silently would overstate the salary.
How do I convert salary to hourly?
Switch the direction at the top of the form and enter the salary: the tool divides by your declared hours per week and weeks per year.
